The two little deer by our home.  We surprise them often when we return home.

Yes, we did get the mouse while serving in one of the sites.   I called Elder Horlacher and he couldn't come, Duaine, our son was in town and on a wagon ride and couldn't come, so Sister Bowden and myself took care of the matter.   Several days later while in another site, during the first tour of the day, we encountered a bat.   My picture of that experience didn't take, but the gentleman who was there with his wife and 3 children took my apron and caught it and released it outside.   Our adventures go on.

The picture below is taken on the Mississippi River, where if you are very quite and don't move and wear anything but white, you may be able to get their picture.   If you look close you will see the log is full of turtles.   We have tried and tried to get their picture but they hear us or see us and jump into the water.   We will keep trying to get a great picture.

Rendezvous. . . . .

Rendezvous:                                   "Oh My Stars!  Just think of it, the Asby's and all ten children living side by side with the Snow's"
(Relief Society)

   Jed and Annie

"Oh, you can't change?   You'll never accept my way of life".
"Could you say something like Heck or Darn?  Instead of always cussing when you're mad?"
"I can say Darn!"

The Savior said..."Turn the other Cheek".

If we go we'll be spoken of as cowards.   Cowardly Mormons, all of us!  Driven out!!

Willingly because we have to!!

Willingly because we want to!!!

                               Little Town. . . . .     Farewell. . .  Nauvoo. . . .

We must take each opportunity as they come ! ! !

Time has really flown by and we have missed writing about our Adventure here in Old Nauvoo ! ! !    We love life and the experiences of a mission.   We had Elder Holland and his family here.   Elder Holland talked to us in a special meeting and explained he was not here as a member of the twelve but as a man, father and grandfather.   We took from the meeting the need to get our families ready for the future.   We need to remember who we are and that we are children of a Father in Heaven who loves us and wants only the best for each of us.   We each have a responsibility  to be the person that we know we must be to return and live with him, and to make sure we can all sit down together in Heaven as a family.   Those preparations are made here and now.   Today we had Elder Clark of the Seventies here,   he also talked to us as a man, not as a General Authority.   He talked to each of us about our eternal families.   He told of the families the young Sister Missionaries have waiting in heaven to come to their families when the time is right, the grand and great grand children we as older missionaries have also waiting to come.   What a wonderful idea and concept.   They are waiting to come to our families.   They must know who we are and anxious to get to know us.  He spoke about the still small voice, and advised us to be careful not to turn it away.   The Holy Ghost will tell us what to do.  We must know and feel of the power of the Holy Ghost.   Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ knows and loves each of us individually.  I know this to be a fact.   Each of us can and do see miracles in our lives each and every day.

After Rendezvous the other night, after Elder Horlacher and I did our Jed and Annie, a small boy about 7 or 8 came up to Elder Horlacher and shook his hand.   He said,"I know you aren't bad, even with the gun in your hand I knew you weren't bad."   What a precious young man.   Elder Horlacher and about 10 other men are deciding if they should leave Nauvoo willing or fight.   They all have guns and look and act pretty tough.   He ask if he could have his picture taken with him.  I am sorry I didn't get a picture myself.   His mother said they needed to leave now and the little boy said, "No, mom, I need to talk to other people."   It is experiences like these that melt your heart and cause you to thank Heavenly Father for the blessings and opportunities he gives you each day.   It's almost daily that some small child sees Elder Horlacher and comes to him and says, "I know you. . ."    He is a wonderful Missionary.

We are learning so much of how life should be.   We all have to make a living and provide for our families,.  We have to be in the world, not of the world, but we can pause for peace on the Sabbath.   Each day brings with it a fresh set of worries and worldly cares.   Each Sabbath day brings opportunity to put worries on hold and remember our true purpose.   All it takes is a little preparation on our part.   Blessings will come when we prepare for the Sabbath.

We find here in the Mission that we are running about every minute, and sometimes we can ask ourselves if we can keep going.   Father in Heaven is right there holding us up to do one more thing,   I found this quote from Pres. Thomas S. Monson.   "So much in life depends on our attitude.  The way we choose to see things and respond to others makes all the difference.  To do the best we can and then choose to be happy about our circumstances, whatever they may be, can bring peace and contentment.   We love you and pray our Heavenly Fathers choicest blessings are yours.

Nauvoo horses in pasture enroute to barn

At 6:30 AM  we went to the pasture to watch the horses come to the barn
to start their shift.

The horses read their own names for their treat of grain.  They get upset when
another horse gets in their stall.  Notice their names.
