Our first 10 days in Old Nauvoo...Yeah

We were busy moving into our home.  We really like the location which is just a half a block (South) with a clear un-obstructed of the temple.  We have an excellent view of the Mississippi river and with the beautiful sunsets.  We were fitted for our site clothes and were assigned to different sites.  Because of a bout of sickness all of the site schedules were mixed up which means we got fully engaged because after one presentation we were giving the tours.  In fact many times we were the only one there.  I had one big group of 17 people (4 unrelated families) at the Browning gun shop.  I asked if they had seen Rendezvous (the play which we sing and dance in) they hadn't: I said there is a song which says "If you just move over you'll make a new friend", so they bunched up.  At the end of the presentation they clapped.  Mom and I at the 70's Hall last Sunday gave a presentation to an area 70 from New Zealand Elder Thomson meanwhile Bryan and Tonya were with his friend and brother in the 70's Elder Dudfield (small world).
Elder Horlacher is doing a great job and keeps everyone Laughing.    I finally had to put my foot down and say sometimes we must be serious.  ha ha     Anyway it has been a wonderful 10 days, Last night we had the field burn.   This is where they let a block of praire grass grow, and never touch until a certain date and then they burn it to show how fast a praire fire moves.   The block burned in under 4 minutes.    Makes you never want to caught in one.   I ran into John Roberts and his wife and son.  What a small world it is.   Tonight is our first time on stage for Rendezvous,   I'm sure we will have a story to tell next time.     Our try outs went great, (really just OK)  but we were sure relieved when they were done.    We didn't sing If the Savior Stood Beside Me, but we sang   Carry On, Carry On.   Elder Horlacher still couldn't get through it.   Our first Sunday we watched the  The Cokeville Mircle.   What a wonderful, powerful, Movie.   It will be released In June.   I encourage you to go see it with your family.   The principal from the Cokeville elementary came and TC Christensen was here as well as the main girl character.  TC also did the Seventeen Mircles, etc.

We are Ready for our Adventure!!!

We are ready to GO!
Nauvoo or Bust!

(Hope their ready to laugh)

Last few days at the MTC

Our Dear Family,
Thank you for your patience.    Our last few days in the MTC was very special.   Our instructors were Elder and Sister Morgan.   They were  the Directors for the  St. George Temple Visitor  Center.   They had attended our ward many times for Sacrament.  We, of course, can't remember everything, but we have been promised that when we need it, we will be able to recall.   There are two things that I will not forget.     I don't know everything, but I do know that Heavenly Father loves his children.  And,  I can't tell you what to believe, I can only tell you what I believe.   I know that Heavenly Father loves me, and you.   I know that his son, Jesus Christ, died on the cross for me and for you.   He loves us and wants more than anything for us to return back to him.   I know that he hears and answers prayers, even when we don't get our answer right away.  I know we are never alone.   But it is our choice, We must invite him.
We love you all so much.   You are so special to us.    Our Children, Their Spouses, Our Grandchildren,  Our Brothers and Sisters, and their Children,   Our cousins, etc.   Our Friends,   You are all such a blessing in our lives.

We arrived in the MTC

We arrived to the MTC in Provo March 9th.  We started almost immediately with class work.  We spent the entire week on the "Preach My Gospel"  and we learned a lot. We practiced our teaching skills and found out that it was much harder than we thought.  By the end of the week we made good progress.  There are 12 couples going to Nauvoo of the 60 total couples. We were with the Hatches from Cedar City, Doctor and nurse going to Germany; The Hancock's from Tooele which are on a MLS mission.  One of our instructors Nick Gubler from Santa Clara, knew Herbie and all the Horlachers in Ivins.  The other instructors were Sister Sharp and Brother Rowe. The instructors are very special returned missionaries attending BYU.
The MTC has been a wonderful experience.  The spirit has been so strong.  It's amazing to be with all the young missionaries.  We enjoy watching them and seeing their enthusiasm.

Our Farewell

It was a very beautiful Sunday morning in the "Shadows of the temple" at our ward building.
Our children sang a beautiful song, "If the Savior Stood Beside Me" as one of the musical numbers and
then Sis. Horlacher spoke and our second musical number, Sis. Bruschke sang,
"To Be Like Him" and then Bro. Horlacher spoke.
It was such a spiritual meeting and so many people came to support us.
We love everyone and so grateful for their love to us.
